Driver updates, app updates, disk cleanup, startup control, a repair toolbox and a starter pack for fresh installs - one honest tool instead of six shady "optimizers". Everything comes from official Microsoft sources. Nothing is ever sold to you.

A real screenshot, not a mock-up. Every image on this page is the actual application.
Only WHQL-signed packages from the official Microsoft Update catalog. Detects devices with missing drivers, creates a restore point before installing, and links you to official vendor pages for the freshest GPU drivers.
One click updates your installed software through winget, Microsoft's built-in package manager. Silent installs, checksums verified, no "next-next-finish" wizards.
Temp files, old update packages, thumbnail and browser caches. Every category shows file count and size BEFORE anything is removed. Passwords and history are never touched.
Registry, startup folders and scheduled tasks in one list. Disabling uses the exact mechanism Task Manager uses - one click brings anything back.
Drive health, DISM + SFC repair, network reset, connection test, battery report, largest files and folders, top processes, recent system errors. Each tool shows the exact command it runs.
26 hand-picked free apps - browsers, media, office, dev tools, gaming - installed in bulk, silently, via winget. Already-installed apps are detected and marked.
Drivers come from the Microsoft Update catalog, apps from the winget repository. DECKHAND hosts no files of its own - and never will.
Restore point before driver installs. Reversible startup switches. The Recycle Bin is unchecked by default. No operation without an undo path.
Full source code published, SHA-256 for every download, and you can build your own binary with one command.
Windows Defender is genuinely good now. A second scanner means conflicts and slowdowns. We won't sell you fear of something you already have covered.
Force-freeing memory makes performance worse - Windows manages it better than any "optimizer". This placebo has been sold for twenty years.
Orphaned registry entries take up kilobytes and slow down nothing. "1,247 registry errors found!" is theatre designed to scare you into a PRO version.
There is no upsell. The free version is the whole product.
The whole app is one C# file, developed in the open at github.com/promptowy/deckhand. Clone it or download the source package below and build an identical, fully functional exe with the free .NET SDK - then you never have to run any file from this site:
dotnet build deckhand.csproj -c ReleaseSOURCE (27 KB)SHA-256 (source): 7F5C73C50FF1873F022625ABBBDB5A5E8ADF5EA7732CBC6BD45CDD1AF8E46C61
Open PowerShell and paste - it downloads the installer, verifies the SHA-256 checksum and only then runs it:
irm https://promptowy.com/deckhand/install.php | iexSee exactly what it executes. Checksums are verified with: Get-FileHash <file>
Classic setup: Start Menu shortcut, optional desktop icon, normal uninstall via Settings. Requirements: Windows 10/11, nothing else.

A single 49 KB exe. No installation - keep it on a USB stick and fix any computer. Ideal for technicians and fresh installs.

One C# file plus the project. Read it, audit it, build it yourself with one command. MIT licensed - do what you want.

Counted server-side, unique per person per day, bots excluded. This counter cannot be inflated by refreshing - and yes, it starts embarrassingly low. That's what honest looks like.
That suspicion is healthy - keep it. In theory any program running as administrator can do a lot, which is why we don't ask for trust: the full source is published, and you can check that DECKHAND never touches password stores or browser history (it cleans cache folders only) and makes no network connections of its own - only the built-in Windows Update agent and winget talk to Microsoft's servers. You can also build your own exe from source and skip our binaries entirely.
Windows Update auto-installs only critical drivers. Optional vendor drivers are buried under Advanced options > Optional updates, where nobody looks. DECKHAND surfaces them, detects devices with no driver at all, and links to official NVIDIA/AMD/Intel pages for the newest GPU drivers - because those are fresher than any catalog, and we'd rather admit that than pretend otherwise. Plus drivers are just one of six modules.
Drivers: the Microsoft Update catalog, same as Windows Update, WHQL-certified. Apps: the official Microsoft winget repository, with each installer's checksum verified before it runs. DECKHAND hosts and modifies nothing.
Disabling is fully reversible - DECKHAND uses the exact same mechanism as Windows Task Manager (StartupApproved registry keys and scheduled-task disabling). Nothing is deleted, so one click restores the previous state.
DECKHAND creates a system restore point before installing drivers (on by default). Roll back with System Restore and you're back where you started. There's also a one-click full driver backup to disk.
No catch. No PRO version, no account, no newsletter, no ads. This tool exists out of irritation with what "free" Windows utilities have become.
DECKHAND is a new, not-yet-code-signed executable downloaded from the internet, so SmartScreen applies its default caution - as it does to every small unsigned tool. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". Before you do, compare the SHA-256 checksum with the one published here, or build the binary yourself from source.
